Space is essential to an artist's practice. It allows room for ideas, for experimentation, for play and, where needed, for destruction.

Studio space is increasingly a luxury many can't afford, especially artists from a working class background.

Participate in a nuanced conversation on why creativity needs space, and explore the Acrylicize x Working Class Creatives Database: Residents Exhibition, a tangible example of how space - or the lack thereof - shapes artistic expression.

In 2024, we partnered with Working Class Creatives Database on a collaborative artist residency programme, which saw eight individuals spend 6-8 weeks each at The Art House, our home in East London.

They were embedded in the Acrylicize team, inspiring talks, exhibitions, poetry slams, film nights, and conversations, transforming Acrylicize studio culture. They started debates, conversations and friendships, with their contributions shaping how we move forward as a creative studio.

This residency acts as a blueprint for change. Any space—regardless of size or purpose—can be a creative space. This is a call to action for venues and organisations to open their doors to the creative community.

Artists need space, and you can help.

Technological innovation is one of the core drivers of the shift in cultural acceptance of the granny sex doll, particularly breakthroughs in materials science and artificial intelligence. Early sex dolls were often made of simple silicone or plastic, resulting in a crude appearance and a lack of realism, which limited their appeal. However, with the application of 3D printing and biomimetic technology, modern granny torso sex dolls can closely replicate the characteristics of older women, such as wrinkles and body shapes, enhancing the user experience.

This hits home—space really does make such a difference, whether you’re painting, making music, or just trying to finish a nursing dissertation without losing your mind (which I'm definitely losing right now, thinking of using some nursing dissertation help uk). Would love to see more places like this pop up, especially here in the UK. Can’t wait to check out the resident artists’ work!

SUPPORT WORKING CLASS CREATIVES (1).png

'Working Class Creatives' responds to a need which is too often overlooked in the arts; that of the barriers facing working-class artists from getting on in our sector. They are instrumental in initiating much-needed change that will see the art world become more inclusive and reflect the society it purports to serve. I often search their database in my research, it is a vital resource for any arts professional working in culture today. That they have got this far on so little financial resource is remarkable and I am excited to see what they will achieve with further support.” Beth Hughes, Curator, Arts Council Collection.
