Henry Moore After Hours x WCCD at Kew Gardens

We are delighted to announce our Henry Moore After Hours events, in partnership with Kew Gardens, Richmond.

Over the past few months we’ve been working with the Kew team on producing four evening events, bringing together three of our valued CIC members for evenings of sound, sculpture, drawing and performance.

Alongside celebrating the work of Henry Moore, the summer solstice and storytelling, we hope these events strengthen connections within our community, showcase the incredible work being developed across our network, and create space for conversations that inspire future collaborations and growth, all within the grounds of Kew Gardens.

About the Artists

Lucie Kordacova

Incantations

Multi media live art performance by Lucie Kordačová in collaboration with Kristyna Farag.

Lucie Kordačová is a visual artist from the Czech Republic based in Sheffield, UK. Her site responsive practice spans sculpture, installation, moving image, textiles, costume and performance.

This multi sensory work blends sound, film, live performance and sculpture. Drawing from Slavic roots and solstice traditions, the performance explores ritual, maintenance, care and growth through intermittent actions and sculptural interventions across the space.

Zivarna Murphy

Make Your Own Moore Inspired Clay Miniature

Zivarna Murphy is a research based conceptual ceramic artist whose work explores coastal erosion as a metaphor for human loss, layering clay with textures inspired by shells, rocks and fossils collected from the East Yorkshire coastline.

Participants will create clay miniatures inspired by Henry Moore, the Kew landscape and natural forms including rocks, fossils and shells.

This drop in workshop runs throughout the evening and invites visitors to experiment freely with clay and natural texture tools before taking home their own sculpture.

Sylwia Narbutt

Who Is There? Uncover the Hidden Characteristics of Plants and Objects

Sylwia Narbutt is a London based artist whose practice explores painting and drawing as ways of entering wild, hidden and overlooked spaces.

This imaginative workshop invites visitors to uncover stories behind selected plants and objects through folklore, symbolism and observation.

Participants will experiment with sketching techniques and expressive mark making before taking home their own drawing.

This workshop runs throughout the evening.

We look forward to welcoming members and partners for what promises to be an engaging and inspiring series of evenings.

SUPPORT WORKING CLASS CREATIVES (1).png

'Working Class Creatives' responds to a need which is too often overlooked in the arts; that of the barriers facing working-class artists from getting on in our sector. They are instrumental in initiating much-needed change that will see the art world become more inclusive and reflect the society it purports to serve. I often search their database in my research, it is a vital resource for any arts professional working in culture today. That they have got this far on so little financial resource is remarkable and I am excited to see what they will achieve with further support.” Beth Hughes, Curator, Arts Council Collection.
