Screenprinting at JOY Festival!

We had such a lovely time running out Screenprinting Workshop at JOY Festival!

Together, we made Working Class Creatives’ Guide to Self Organising prints - a DIY manifesto built from everything we’ve learned since starting @workingclasscreativesdatabase in 2021!

Me & @chanel.le have been running WCC as volunteers for the past few years - answering emails from our bedrooms on opposite sides of the country. We’ve now grown to over 1500 members and have worked with some incredible institutions, but at its core it’s always been about grassroots care, community and working class creativity!

This manifesto is for everyone; a reminder that you don’t need permission to start something. If we can do it, so can you.

Thank you to everyone who came and screenprinted with us! And massive thanks to @acrylicize @thearthouselive @connorrankin & @philliprhysolney for all your help & for putting on such a brilliant festival! ❤️

& @printclublondon for the screens!

& @tobycarveryprincessxoxo for being an amazing host

👚 these T-shirt and prints will be for sale soon - keep your eyes peeled if you’d like one!

SUPPORT WORKING CLASS CREATIVES (1).png

'Working Class Creatives' responds to a need which is too often overlooked in the arts; that of the barriers facing working-class artists from getting on in our sector. They are instrumental in initiating much-needed change that will see the art world become more inclusive and reflect the society it purports to serve. I often search their database in my research, it is a vital resource for any arts professional working in culture today. That they have got this far on so little financial resource is remarkable and I am excited to see what they will achieve with further support.” Beth Hughes, Curator, Arts Council Collection.
